Mental Health and Writing

Ever had that feeling where you are too muddled up in your thoughts, don't know what to do next or are pressured due to your unachievable expectations? All these feelings can accumulate and lead to ill effects both on your physical and mental health...

What if we give you one (magical) solution for all these problems?

WRITING! Yup taking a pencil and making contact with a paper has many surprisingly stress-relieving effects, Don’t believe me? Keep reading this post!

1) Analysis and check on emotion

  • Sitting down every day and expressing your emotions ( through a diary or via a character in your story) can help you clear your head and heavy heart, giving a method to resolve and analyze those feelings. It aids in answering the questions - what caused them? How can I be relieved of it?
  • Acknowledging your emotions and facing them headfirst is the first step to resolving them. It also helps develop self-awareness and increase self-esteem

2) Spring cleaning

  • Emotions can get muddled up in your head, negative thoughts or anxiety can overwhelm you, causing a traffic jam and stopping you from thinking forward or about a solution. Writing it down helps you to clean thoughts, once it is in front of you, you can rid of the negative ones ( and their causes). This works in the same principle as ‘ Talking about it ( minus the need for patience and support from the listener, trust me, your book will always be there with you and will never judge you ;-) ). This will help you to move on.

3) Expectations

  • Anxiety is commonly caused by expectations or being over ambitious. Drawing a road map and writing down your aim along with the various things required to achieve it, Planning each step, writing it down then inspecting by asking the important question - Can you achieve this? The answer to that question will automatically reduce stress and anxiety.

4) Mindfulness

  • It gives you a way to escape from all the worries and clouding thoughts for a while and live in the present. It’s an exercise that requires your entire focus at that moment and gives an opportunity to stop thinking ( and overthinking) and getting overwhelmed by the issue or feeling. It can be thought to be like Yoga and meditation, same effects just a different methodology! ( where your lotus position can be replaced by a blooming novel instead )

BUT, for this to work -- you will need to

  • Be true to yourself... write down everything that comes into your head, pour out your deepest feelings
  • Never edit it -- this is to access your emotions and thoughts, you can't do that if u keep editing your writing.

The Periodic Table of Elements__Mnemonic

The Periodic Table of Elements. The heart and soul of chemistry, without which any study in  Chemistry will become enormously tedious... It's just irony that learning this same periodic table is considered as a herculean and tedious task by many students. "Why do we need to learn a whole new language?" is the cribbing and moaning of most high schoolers!  Well say no more!! Just remember " Hi, Hello Listen  BBC News on Friday Night!"  Hmm... Now, I know you are wondering how listening to BBC news is going to solve your problem. Don't worry I am not asking you to sacrifice your Friday nights, because in actuality that sentence is a mneumonic!  (To all the ones who are wondering what a MNEUMONIC is - It is a small phrase or sentence, whose first letters help in associating and remembering a concept)   In this Mneumonic, we will be considering the symbols of the elements :- Name of the element - Symbol - Mnemonic Hydrogen - H - Hi Helium - He - Hello Lithium

Subject-Verb Agreement

"The quality of mangoes were not good" "His knowledge on Indian vernaculars are far beyond the common" "The president, as well as the councillors, are in a meeting" Do you feel the above sentences are correct?  These statements might sound correct but in actuality are grammatically erroneous.   Every time you answer your grandmom's question, over the phone, by saying "Everyone are fine here, How are you?" Wren and Martin turn  in their graves... You might wonder,  Why are they wrong? This is because the Subject does not agree with the verb in these statements...  In today's blog, we will be learning more about this Subject's and Verb's agreement with each other and how this international treaty, if broken,  wreaks havoc in every student's English exam and our everyday conversations  Subject-Verb agreement / Subject-verb concord basically states that the Verb must agree with its Subject in Number and Person.  If the subject
